🚀How to use the calculator

  1. 1Choose your sectorPick Private or Government in the header. The form, taxes and deductions adapt automatically.
  2. 2Enter your basic salaryFor private staff: your basic monthly salary. For government officers: your scale, grade, step and new/old basics — the current phase is applied for you.
  3. 3Add allowancesTick EPF for allowances that attract EPF/ETF (COLA, food, travel). Tick Lv for allowances that are not paid during no-pay leave.
  4. 4Add overtime and bonusOvertime is taxed but excluded from EPF/ETF. A bonus is a lump sum taxed at a flat rate — add the full amount when it is paid.
  5. 5No-pay leave and late minutesEnter unpaid leave days and the payroll's deduction basis so the no-pay deduction is split between basic and leave-sensitive allowances.
  6. 6List your other deductionsLoans, insurance, union fees and advances are subtracted from net pay.
  7. 7Read the resultsTake-home, gross, APIT slab breakdown, EPF/ETF and employer cost are shown instantly.
  8. 8Print the payslipPress 🖨 Print, pick one of five layouts, choose English or Sinhala in ⚙️ Settings, then print or save as PDF.

💡Tips

  • Your entries are saved automatically in this browser — close the page and your numbers stay.
  • Bonus tax is charged only in the month you enter it. For an annual figure, add the bonus once (e.g. December).
  • If your real payslip shows a different EPF figure, check whether some allowances are EPF-exempt.
  • Use the ⚙️ gear button to add your company logo and EMP/EPF numbers to the printed payslip.
